Hollow Dali
This hollow form was turned from Ambrosia Maple and then carved and sanded to accentuate the darker portions that were effected by the Ambrosia Beetle which caused the beautiful coloration in the wood. This is a totally unique look into the inside of a hollow form and highlights both the wood and the negative space within. Awarded Photo of the Day on WOW, World of Woodturners 2010 and was also displayed at the 2010 New Hope Center for the Arts Works in Wood Show in Pennsylvania.
Snake Tale
This hollow form is turned from a Cherry Burl then carved and sanded into the various snake tails to accentuate the burl. The inside is dyed and polished to act as a background for the beautiful burl. Awarded Photo of the Day on WOW, World of Woodturners 2010.
Cherry Bowl
This is a thinly turned cherry burl that I won at a Del-Val Turners club meeting. It was displayed at the 2007 Perkins Center for the Arts Wood Show and was subsequently awarded the Cover of More Woodturning Magazine June of 2007.
Telsa I
Large Hollow Form turned from Ambrosia Maple. It is turned with the pith left at the diagonal center and was displayed at the 2009 Works in Wood Show in New Hope Pennsylvania.
2008 New Hope Works in Wood
Here are four of my pieces that were selected for the 2008 New Hope Works in Wood Show. It was a special honor for me as the judges were Albert LeCoff or the Woodturning Center in Philadelphia and Mira Nakashima - Yarnell who was also a participant in the show.
Sassafras Hollow Form
One of my earlier explorations into the interior of hollow forms, this is was the first time I used the dyed and polished black interior to show off the outside of a piece.
Feeling Cornered
One of my early Limestone Sculptures that was displayed at the Perkins Center for the Arts Show in December 2006. This was the first time I showed my work in a gallery show. I guess I caught the bug.
Buttonwood Sculpture
This was my first wooden sculpture which started my love affair with wood that eventually drew me into my addiction with woodturning. I am now starting to blend the two arts as seen in Hollow Dali and Snake Tale. There is no turning back.
